Get ready for a magically monstrous summer.
As I’m sure you’ve heard, Disney Parks have announced the Monstrous Summer All-Nighter. That’s right, the US parks will be open for 24 hours beginning on May 24th. You can see Mike’s big announcement here. Before you have flashbacks of the insanity that was One More Disney Day, let’s go over what exactly will be going on throughout this event.
The all-nighter is the kickoff event of Disney’s Monstrous Summer promotion series for the highly anticipated Monsters University, which premieres June 21st. The parks will be open from 6am May 24th, to 6am May 25th, in the parks’ respective time zones.
There will be different events held in each park throughout the night to keep the guests excited and entertained. As written by Thomas Smith, Disney’s social media director:
In Florida, Magic Kingdom Park will feature a “Monsters University” theme where Mike and Sulley will be the Grand Marshals of the “Celebrate a Dream Come True” day parade and make appearances in Tomorrowland. There will be extra entertainment throughout the day and night, including characters in their pajamas in Town Square during the late night and early morning, and late-night dance parties in and around the courtyard of Cinderella Castle.
In California, you’ll be able to party the night away at both parks with special entertainment including: a “Monsters University” “TLT Monstrous” Dance Club and Star Wars characters in Tomorrowland and late-night Character Pajama Party in Mickey’s ToonTown at Disneyland park. The new Fantasy Faire Royal Theatre at Disneyland park will become a Royal Dance Hall late at night with a live band and dancing; and guests of Disney California Adventure park will find Monstrous photo opportunities with new “Monsters University” “Dorms” in Hollywood Land and a new “Monsters University” float leading the Pixar Play Parade.
There will also be limited-edition merchandise, food, and beverages available in the parks throughout the Monstrous Summer kickoff, as well as a few extra surprises! We can’t wait to update you all with more details as the event gets closer!

Today is Earth Day and that means that Disney’s Animal Kingdom is marking an anniversary. Today, marks the park’s 15th year of showcasing indigenous culture, the world of animals, and the fantasy and challenge of nature in her many forms.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a special species of her own. The park is not conventional, not idealized, not an example of the gleaming and happy-go-lucky theme that most theme parks attempt to realize in their placemaking and environments.
Instead, she is real. She has history coursing through her veins, grit to boast in realistic and believable environments, and a heartfelt and vital message.
Yes, this difference often puts her at odds with the other parks that Disney has built around the world. But, in this difference is Animal Kingdom’s originality and unique qualities that make it an enthralling venture and experience.
Happy 15th, Animal Kingdom.

Disney has announced their latest plans for Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World: Disney Springs! This new area will be a place where guests can leisurely wander through quaint shops, be entertained by performers, and experience high-end dining. The hub of Disney Springs is called Town Center, from which will spring three neighborhoods: The Landing, Marketplace, and West Side. Construction will begin next month, and we’re expecting anywhere from 75 to 150 new shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. Exciting! You can view more conceptual art here.
